John McGinn about to go on a bender until he rocks up on Sunday at Elland Road stinking of Buckfast and MD 2020

John McGinn at a World Cup, what a journey that man has been on. 👏

Oh my word that's one of the best goals I've ever seen under the circumstances. Unreal football match.

What a hit Kieran Tierney, absolute balls of steel to pull that off with so little time left.

Not many probably deserve it more considering what he has been through 👏

Do wonder how much credit Eddie Howe has in the bank? 🤔

We were a joy to watch today. What a turnaround it's been between the two international breaks.

Never count Unai Emery and this team out. Lots more to come.

Justice. I still love you Emi Martinez, what a save. Imperious when it comes to penalties.

Never a pen either.

We don't score often but we do score some worldies. Wow. What a performance so far 👏#AVFC

Quite peculiar really. At the start I thought it was purely Emery waiting for Elliott to be at the level he desires but that theory seems to be going out the window now.

Slow starter? This is beyond that now really. Huge shame.

The longer this goes on, the more likely a decision will be made in January. Harvey Elliott left out of the squad - he's well down Emery's pecking order, who he & #AVFC say accounts for the lack of minutes. But it's becoming very frustrating for Elliott:

Harvey Elliott, fast passes, and a slow start to life at Aston Villa
The former Liverpool player’s early Villa career has been slow-going, even if it is broadly due to circumstances out of his control

Tielemans coming back into the fold is much needed, likely stating the obvious.

The way he creates space and picks passes takes us up a notch and it's pretty clear how vital he is to the way our side functions. In a congested midfield last night he makes it look easy.

We've scored a penalty!! Perhaps the most nervous I've ever been for one consider the amount we've missed 😂😂 #AVFC

Goal came at the ideal time really. Pretty ok first half. Sancho is great to watch and really finding his feet.

What's a Guessand? I don't quite get him, pretty poor touch on him and zero end product? #AVFC

You do worry for Ollie's confidence don't you? On the bench and deservedly so but have to question when he's going to dig himself out of this hole he's in.

He's done it before but doesn't feel half as bad as this current run for him.

In the wise words of Gattuso.

Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit.

Today was the latter. Our own worst enemy.

Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres marshalled Haaland like he was nothing today. Incredible given the form he's been in. 👏 #AVFC

One of our best performances this year, every man had a job to do and they perfected it to a tee.

Onana - a coming of age showing.

Every man of that defensive line, so good. Pau and Konsa like braveheart.

Watkins led from the front with his defensive work. So good.

That's a shameful dive from Doku. How's Kamara ended up in the book? 🤣
October 26, 2025 at 3:43 PM
Zero composure from Watkins, shat himself when he saw the keeper
October 26, 2025 at 3:36 PM
Perfect first half. Just needed a second. Sancho has looked bright since coming on, Watkins still a touch shy of where he should be.

Jesus Christ what a fucking goal. #AVFC

It's a lot of team's cup finals when they play us in Europe and we have to get used to that. It's shameful to lose tonight. So many chances and so little quality. #AVFC

Opta Stan.

Maccabi Tel Aviv have had 2 match postponements in the last 266 days for public disorder.

Aston Villa haven't had 1 in 50,080 days (since 8th September 1888, Football League Matchday 1, the birth of global league football). Home or away.

Gaslit.

A question for you:

What do you class as a 'late goal'? I don’t class Buendia’s winner today as 'late' personally with over 12 minutes of normal time plus added to be played 🤔

Remember when we drew to Sunderland? You would've thought it was the end of the world if you spoke with some fans? #AVFC
