Why do all the icons in iOS 26 now have faint glows and shadows? Some even have thin light outlines on the logo shapes? There’s no hard contrast, it feels like my eyesight is going blurry when it’s just terrible design choices!!!!

Too many mostly transparent and blurry things with lots of colours surrounding other colourful things. Makes it hard to focus on what’s important. Why isn’t the area containing the icons more distinct from the background? There must be a setting to disable this busy glass effect

Kids are innocent and learn what you teach them. Lessons and teachers have to be consistent and constantly revise. Peace and harmony is one of those things that when it is achieved, you must work to maintain it.

CANDLE SNUFF
Xylaria hypoxylon (Candle-Snuff Fungus). The fruit bodies are black at the base and white above with, at first, a simple horn-like shape that later becomes branched like an antler. They usually occur in small clusters on dead and decaying wood of broad-leaved trees. Up to 8cm tall. All Year. Inedible.

STINKHORN (and DOG STINKHORN)
Phallus impudicus (Stinkhorn). This is an unmistakable species commonly found in woods and gardens and usually detected by its smell of bad drains. The young fruit body is like a jelly-covered egg encased in a whitish skin which emerges above the ground and gives rise to a stout white stem, capped by a slimy dark olive-green mass of spores. The smell attracts flies which remove the spores by feeding on them and, in so doing, reveal a white honeycomb texture beneath. The young egg is edible but is an acquired taste. Up to 25cm tall. Spring-Autumn. Edible. Mutinus caninus (Dog Stinkhorn). Although basically similar in structure to the preceding species, the Dog Stinkhorn is a smaller fungus with a whitish or yellow-buff stem, and with an orange-red tip beneath the olive-coloured spore mass. The smell, although still unpleasant, is much less pronounced than that of the larger species. Up to 10cm tall.

WITCHES’ BUTTER (sadly inedible)
Exidia plana (Witches' Butter). These glistening, gelatinous, jet black fruit bodies which grow in clusters on the dead stumps and logs of broad-leaved trees (especially oaks) can assume a distorted brain-like appearance. They are often confused with those of the quite unrelated and fairly common ascomycete, Bulgariainquinans which has an astonishingly similar general appearance but they can always be distinguished by the minute pimples on the surface. Up to 5cm diam. All year. Inedible.

Amanita virosa (Destroying Angel). There is something decidedly eery about Amanita virosa, for its immaculate toadstools, pure white in their seeming innocence as they stand among the quiet of some lonely woodland, harbour a poison as deadly as that of the Death Cap. The name Destroying Angel sums up the strange and sinister aura that this species has, particularly in northen Europe where it is most common. Apart from colour, the fungus is notable for its large, bag-like volva, its stem, which is often slightly curved and decidedly shaggy, and for sweet and rather sickly smell; all characters that help to distinguish it from white forms of Amanita citrina which is shown on the preceding page. All the cautionary notes given on p.38 in relation to 4. phalloides apply to 4. virosa also and indeed its rather stronger superficial resemblance to the young stages of such Agaricus species as the Horse Mushroom render it particularly dangerous 8-12 x 6-12cm. Summer-Autumn. Deadly Poisonous.
