Well, we were hoping to avoid it but unfortunately, Chance is going to have to have surgery next week. He has a histiocytoma(benign growth) They usually go away on their own in a few months but it’s been more than three months and he will not stop licking at it.😢

later. They’ll culture bone and tissues to determine appropriate antibiotic. Hoping won’t require iv antibiotics. Would prefer not to put him through more, but worry about the deep infection hanging over our heads.

Thank you for saying that. Am scared as she wanted to wait until infection became systemic or wound further opened. States bone will always be weak after the surgeries, so reluctant to remove. Internal med not happy on antibiotic forever. He’s not getting younger, worry if surgery not an option 1/

They confirmed the infection is in the hardware in Sept, wound isn’t healing. Planning for he removal end of the month, but worried, and struggling w putting him through more.
