Well right because it’s connected to the lives of the people who bankroll the party, which are very disconnected from the vast majority of Americans. Eg-dem Econ official, “why do people go on about raising the minimum wage? we can reach more people in need with EITC”
where to start…🙄

I guess it really is time to unsubscribe from the Post. There are still a number of fine journalists there, but the number is shrinking and they can’t say what they think. Sad

And while that argument that it can't last because companies need consumers is appealing, the question is what kind of consumers and how many do they really need? The pandemic showed companies can make a pretty hefty profit while many working people suffer...

"The paradox is that bad news for workers has become good news for markets." Well, actually this isn't really new... companies have been hell bent on strategies to have fewer people work harder for less for a long time

Stocks rally on Fed interest rate cut hopes as 'jobless expansion' takes hold
Markets are celebrating weak jobs data as a guarantee of Fed interest rate cuts and fatter corporate margins. But are record highs here to stay?

Men may be doing worse than they used to, but women are still doing worse than men by many measures. Instead of creating special programs for men, maybe ask why we have an economy in which most people can't succeed...?

Good jobs that offer stability, fair pay and dignity are not just important for workers — they are essential for children’s success and for building a future where all kids can thrive.

Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

Remember this before you order your next pumpkin spice latte.

Taylor was on a mission today.

She’s into the 3rd round of the U.S. Open for the first time since 2023.

World #1 in doubles… but let’s not forget she’s a pretty special singles player too.

✅4th Grand Slam R3

My cousin’s son has leukemia—which is not only life threatening and emotionally devastating but in the US it’s also expensive. It’s a disgrace that the US economic/healthcare system drives people to crowd funding to pay for care, but that’s where we are.
If you can help…

Trump has made no comment. The White House has found the time to post a video of the arrest of that guy who threw a sandwich at a cop, but nothing about a cop killed defending the government's own employees.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, whose district includes parts of Atlanta, has also said nothing.

Attacking federal employees and making data disappear are two themes of this administration.
So this is a twofer: the annual survey of federal employees has been cancelled.
Obvious reason is to hide big declines in worker morale, engagement and satisfaction.

After months of postponing, OPM opts to fully cancel 2025 FEVS
The cancellation comes after OPM indefinitely delayed FEVS earlier this year, due to the Trump administration’s “urgent” changes for federal employees.

These are next to each other. So sad to see all the small, relatively affordable houses transformed in this way.
