Junior Bald Eagle looking straight at me. Six bald eagles took flight at once and were a big commotion. My camera stuck on this bird. A beautiful youngster looking right at me!
There was quite a commotion when six bald eagles decided to go back out over the water and left their perches right behind where I was standing. They perch very hidden sometimes and you don't even know they are there. My camera stuck on this juvenile. He was looking straight at me on this shot. What a beautiful bird!

#Birds #NorthernFlicker The clouds were the colour of lead and it was just starting to snow again, when this stunning male Flicker landed amongst the chickadees and Nuthatches.
A striking looking bird, male Flicker, is perched on a slender, snow covered branch. The bird has both a moustache and nape patch that are a vivid red. The head is a soft grey with a wide black collar at the base of the neck. Light beige breast feathers are covered in black polka dots. The dark brown back has black stripes. The background is blurred snow covered branches in front of a monotone grey.

These shots were far away, but good action at the fishing hole last weekend. They are in sequence and show how the Bald Eagle controls and manages his catch. Definitely commanding this catch with one talon. It's a privilege to be able to see this during our winter months.

A bald eagle right after the moment of a fish catch. Hard to see the fish here, but he is pressing the fish against his tail with one talon and securing a good grip. He is inches above the water of the Wisconsin River. The bald eagle's second move is to grab the fish momentarily with both talons and get the load balanced just right. The fish is nice size. This third picture of the bald eagle shows him grabbing the fish by the head. The last picture shows the bald eagle with the fish in his right talon which is how he flew off with it finding a tree on the shore to enjoy this meal.
