We've installed another three new simple zebra crossings, this time near Edgware Road.

Without them drivers yield to pedestrians around 40% of the time. With them, it's around 80%.

(Based on monitoring results from our first 4 sites)
Junction of Chapel and Cabbell Streets. Two simple side road zebras without Belisha beacons can be seen with pedestrians crossing and a driver yielding. Edgware Road underground station entrance visible in the background. North junction of Chapel and Cabbell Streets. One simple side road zebras without Belisha beacons can be seen with pedestrians crossing. Edgware Road underground station entrance is visible. Junction of Transept and Chapel Streets looking West with three pedestrians crossing a simple side road zebra without Belisha beacons.

One of their replies to me said they wanted to start a conversation. Well, so much for that having deleted the part of the conversation that didn't make them look good. It's a shame because Lucky Generals are an excellent ad agency and @andynairn.bsky.social seems good egg.

Is this Linkedin post still there? Are my comments visible? They initially seemed to engage with criticism but I can't see it any more so maybe I've been blocked.

"The solution to pedestrian deaths isn't "defensive walking," as NPR says, but investment in public transit. Don't give us advice on how best to play Frogger on roads full of texting drivers, give us buses that give those drivers a safer place to text."

There’s an even bigger conspiracy and it goes even deeper. It turns out that well over half of Parliament and thousands of councillors around the country are all members of a leftist organisation called “The Labour Party”.

Very exciting to see big vehicles going electric. I hope it's got top Direct Vision Standard rating too so the drivers of it are less likely to maim and kill other people.

Our city is far stronger than those who seek to divide it. Our tolerance, diversity & energy unsettles some but we’re not going to bow & scrape to appease those who don’t understand true patriotism-pride in our place, community & country that is so much more than they imagine

This is very worrying.
Also, a red cross on a green cycle hangar is closer to the flag of Nottinghamshire than of England.

Today people went around my neighborhood in north east London spray painting St George’s crosses onto people’s homes. Many of these houses have non British people living in them.

This is getting very dark, very quick.

Pretty sure I replied at the time saying the info on sign ordering was corrected by info that the underlying traffic order doesn't actually restrict eastbound traffic from NOS, and that I committed to address that through our OS scheme. Which, you might be aware, was shelved due to Mayor's plans.
