Crime is moving in the right direction in Albuquerque. Since 2018, violent crime is down 26% and property crime is down 33%. This progress comes from years of focused work, modern policing, and community partnerships. Real work, real progress for our city.

Yesterday, we took another big step toward recovery, stability, and compassion in our city. We’re investing $2.9 million from opioid settlement funds to expand recovery housing and crisis response through ACS, helping more people find care, stability, and hope.

Albuquerque’s Gateway Center is expanding to reach more people in need. With City and State support, 142 new beds are being added, 92 for men and 50 for women. More safe housing, more treatment access, and more chances to rebuild lives for a stronger Albuquerque.

We’re celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. Albuquerque is the only city that honors Indigenous sovereignty by law and works government to government with our pueblos and tribes. Today and every day, we celebrate Indigenous communities.

Before, this part of Los Altos Park was just dirt. After years of work, the new pump track, dog park, Easterday entrance, and walking path opened this past May, giving families, riders, and pets more ways to get outside and enjoy the park.

What used to be a dirt lot is now one of best pickleball facilities in the Southwest with 33 courts, new lights, shade, and restrooms. More than new courts, it is a place for families, tournaments, and community connection. Real work, real progress.

Before, Juan Tabo Hills Park slides were just a dirt lot. After steady work and investment from our Parks and Recreation crews, both embankment slides opened in May. Real Work Real Progress is creating safe, fun spaces for kids and families across Albuquerque.

What was once an empty lot is now home to Albuquerque Community Safety’s first permanent headquarters. The new 10,800-square-foot facility gives ACS room to grow, train, and serve, helping people in crisis get the right care at the right time. This is Real Work, Real Progress.

Albuquerque set the national standard for rethinking public safety. Five years ago, we launched Albuquerque Community Safety to treat behavioral health, addiction, and housing as safety issues. Now cities like New York, Durham, and St. Paul are following our lead. Link in bio.
