I've literally had this one happen to me, a client picking the intentionally-bad option I made so they'd pick the good one instead bsky.app/profile/pope...
My girlfriend works in advertising and often the client picks the worse option, I once asked her why they dont just make all the options other than their preferred one comically awful and she said because then the client still picks that one and now you have to make it.
There was a guy I worked with in corporate video that told me if you have unreasonable, ignorant clients that want to fuck up their own production, you can try to stop them "but sometimes you have to give them the controls and let them crash the plane"

I firmly believe that a large portion of hardcore fanatics. The ones who just know they're part of some epic end times battle. Got that way by first being very, very bored in their comfortable, suburban life.

I am genuinely at a loss for a precedent here. Very, very few states in history ever enjoyed the success of the USA even on a regional level and I just can’t think of any of them dynamiting it all for absolutely no gain

And there’s way too many millions of all types of Americans who like hearing Rubio give a clunky, inelegant, Muzak cover version of an extortion threat because they too think that’s what “running things” is. There are lots of reasons for that but I think one is we all grew up loving movie mobsters.

And now we’ve got the whole country being run by guys who are JUST the fucking loser components of that. Trump is a fucking dollar store knockoff mobster and all these guys love saying shit they think sounds mobstery. They’re the grossest cosplaying, Party City goombah tryhards. It’s disgusting.

It’s lazy, dishonorable, loser bullshit to extort your own fucking vulnerable community. Their suits were nice and they could turn a phrase and it’s fun to watch DeNiro do his thing portraying them onscreen, but irl their whole jam was just the most base, gutter, loser behavior.

We’d be a lot better off right now if we had been given a full picture of not just the impact of this shit, but the fact that these guys ultimately were pathetic fucking losers who did not abide at all by their self-advertised codes about family and honor and shit.

I’m also only a couple generations removed from family who were the victims extortionate mob violence and family who were the perpetrators of same. I grew up liking glamorous mob content like everyone does but also hearing what these people actually did to their communities.

This should rank as one of the most serious corruption scandals in history- the White House sharing top secret military information with oil company executives but not with Congress, creating massive opportunities for insider trading and other corrupt deals.

I remember a time when I thought the government was run by serious people who followed rules and were smarter than me

I miss those days
