The thing about health disinformation is that when it comes from the highest office, people believe it. Parents & pregnant women want to do the right thing but are now making health decisions based on fear.
This is causing real harm.
It's also making our jobs as healthcare professionals harder.

UPDATE: 25 states plus DC have taken actions to protect COVID-19 vaccine access.

Two regional public health alliances have formed: The Northeast Public Health Collaborative and the West Coast Health Alliance.

There are several midwest and mountain states who have collaboration potential.

i think the reason i find relatively well-heeled american people’s doomerism hard to bear is that it’s no less self important than evangelicals’ assertions that these just happen to be the end of days. and compared to people in e.g. the global south most of us ARE relatively well-heeled

I worry very much about what will happen as we descend into economic depression and frightening totalitarianism, surrounded by a toxic and contaminated drug supply.

People lean on drugs to ease pain and survive. If you’ve needed a cold beer after a bad shift, you get it.

Update: WSJ basically retracted but still has a weaselly new headline that is also bad ("Early Bulletin Said Ammunition in Kirk Shooting Engraved With Transgender, Antifascist Ideology; Some Sources Urge Caution"). This is STILL poorly-sourced, irresponsible "journalism" & ought to be retracted.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this article detailed how an internal law enforcement bulletin said that ammunition recovered following the Charlie Kirk shooting was engraved with expressions of “transgender and anti-fascist ideology." Justice Department officials later urged caution about the bulletin by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, saying it may not accurately reflect the messages on the ammunition, and the article was updated Thursday to reflect that. This editor's note was appended on Friday, Sept. 12, after Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said the engravings included one that said “Hey fascist!” along with other messages and symbols. He gave no indication that the ammunition included any transgender references.

An early bulletin circulated widely among law enforcement officials said investigators found ammunition engraved with expressions of "transgender and anti-fascist ideology" inside the rifle that authorities believe was used in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. But some officials later Thursday cautioned against reaching conclusions based on the internal report.
