If you ever want to feel like a literal barking seal pretending that it’s people, just go to grad school, it’s awesome

It's hard to explain to anyone who hasn't had something of themselves go viral that there are a lot of WEIRD motherfuckers on the Internet, and, above a certain threshold of views, they always come out of the woodwork

That’s quite sad. I hope he gets to a point where can be comfortable and present in himself.

Texas proudly invading Illinois.

It’s hard to describe the level of potential constitutional crisis here.

I call on Governor Abbott to immediately withdraw any support for this decision and refuse to coordinate. There is no reason a President should send military troops into a sovereign state without their knowledge, consent, or cooperation.

I got hit in the face by an otherwise very nice lady with a single digit BGL. She also threw her juice at my preceptor. I’ll never not check a glucose!
clairezagorski.bsky.social
Nah man. Cop rules: just give more Narcan and/or toss em in the drunk tank with a BGL of 8.

The brain is a rare organ that can, in a way, communicate. An unhappy brain is often very dramatic! You know when you get hangry? That’s your brain pissed off at a lack of blood sugar.

(So to speak. I anthropomorphize things to help explain them.)

Adding this:

A sudden change in mental status of any kind - sudden psychosis, difficulty staying awake and aware, personality change, aggression or hostility for no reason - is a medical emergency until proven otherwise.

We can even cause it inadvertently in healthcare. Steroids are a known culprit.

Psychosis is a sign that something is off. Unless you know why it’s happening and it’s ongoing (like some folks with schizophrenia), it’s a change in mental status that’s pointing to a problem. Talk to your doctor.

I’ve been offering a teal pumpkin choice lately, usually some kind of toy. Even the kids without food allergies grab them!

lol I love that multiple folks have mentioned the rudeness of getting raisins on Halloween 😂

(FWIW even if you do have schizophrenia, new or worsening psychosis is still reason to talk to your psych. No one needs to go through life feeling like they can’t trust their own mind.)

Psychosis is also common! Stigmatizing it isn’t helpful.

We see it in folks who are manic, who’ve used a lot of stimulant drugs, who have a brain issue like Huntington’s, or who have an endocrine issue. (Among many other causes.)

It’s a thing that we can treat. It doesn’t define anyone!

this post has 7k likes now and nobody except me just now opting to push back against this wording, so just to reiterate: psychotic is a medical term that suggests scared, confused, cognitively struggling, experiencing delusions and hallucinations. not evil, dangerous, cruel, sadistic, or organized
keezyyoung.bsky.social
the term you are looking for here is not psychotic

“What?! I don’t speak dog.”

“Oh wow! Those are some big feelings you’re having!”

“You look like you’d be a slow runner.”

I’m a big fan of honesty here. Try one of these replies!

“Wow, that was a rude thing to say.”

“Whoopsie! Did you mean to say that out loud?”

“You remind me of Andy from The Office.”

“Lower your voice to match your height.”

“Apologize before I leave this job like your dad left you.”
