The party of unending capitulation

A few years later, Duvall appeared in a movie called “Argentine Tango.”

He was a perfect gentleman, so polite and engaging, and we had a ball.

Then Ryan and I went back to the sticks and recommenced pretending that we could postpone our uncertain futures.

We were escorted to the upstairs of a barn which had been converted to a dance studio. Utterly gorgeous. And it was Ryan, me, Duvall, the instructor, and his daughter - whom Duvall appeared to be awkwardly dating.

We spent a whole evening learning that gorgeous dance from beginning to end.

My friend Ryan and I both loved ballroom dancing, so said heck yeah. We could use a break from the drinking anyway.

We were given the address, and lo and behold, it was Robert Duvall’s ranch in Virginia. Ryan and I were idiots and knew he was famous, but had no idea why.

I had just graduated from college and was zig zagging across the country visiting friends on the way home. A one night pit stop at a friend’s house in VA turned into 2 weeks of college style debauchery out in the sticks.

One night, my friend’s dad called and asked if we’d like a dance lesson

This is very much how I think of reading, too. It’s such a delight.

The icing on the cake of manly man hero fantasies:

“This community wants … whatever we can do to make our schools safer,” Cherniss said. “If that means you have armed security and drones and AI and license plate readers, bring it on.”

This is disingenuous.

He was given asylum in 2017 after being imprisoned in SG for political opinions. This meeting is presumably at this time.

He was convicted of grooming and CEI possession in 2021.

In 2024, he was paroled, violated parole, and is now being deported.

We need to be scrupulous.

I only knew it because I read to the end, where the author explains that it’s a realistic representation based on extensive conversations with doctors, patients, and research.

I don’t see it as a problem. It’s a creative representation of a risky situation, based in facts, openly disclosed.

I love it. Thank you for sharing.

Love it. And what are you culturing (the cells themselves, or bacteria, or …)? What will the screen display?

Don’t mind my curiosity. I think it’s cool.

Could you tell us neophytes what we’re looking at?

I have always wondered whether you attribute the “tiny bee stings” feeling to bart or babs. It’s absolutely absent in medical literature.

The “tiny bee stings” feeling was so helpful. I have always wondered what it’s attributed to.
