While the median person plays only a couple games, there's the opposite: people with massive backlogs purchased at a whim during sales over the years they aren't in a hurry to buy new games as soon as they release, and can easily take a year or two before getting into it.

Wait what? There are three major compilers: Clang, GCC, and MSVC. The first two are open source and are the backbone of pretty much every non-Windows device.
