Yeah I was wrong about that, not sure what it has to do with Hasan Piker being a piece of shit lol

It is sort of telling to me how so much of the criticism of the Harris campaign involves inventing an entirely fictitious version of it

I mean what word other than “subordinate” would use for someone who works for and answers to Mark Carney

The Taylor Swift hater subreddit being called r/travisandtaylor is very funny to me

So much of the dynamic is to what extent does reality intrude on the simulacrum occupied by the government and most of the media

This is maybe my least pro-market position: the good thing about drinking in a pub is there is an adult who can cut you off, something which cannot happen when you are drinking alone with the booze you bought at Tesco.

Should go further and tax supermarket beer at a higher rate than at the moment- raises revenue, targets the biggest source of binge drinking and might help get people back into pubs.

Nicolae and Elena’s last words are my favourite Christmas anecdote

I agree with that, I just don’t agree with OP‘s implication that it’s misogynistic

Again, it's really important to understand that anyone who hates theatre, art and academia - three things Britain is still *really bloody good* at making - just hates Britain.

So, the plan is to cut English, the arts, and sociology - the degrees that actually study culture - while on another part of your platform claiming to “defend” British culture.

It’s performance nationalism with a reading age of seven.
Badenoch: Curb students taking 'rip-off' degrees such as English
The performing arts, sociology and anthropology are among the subjects the Conservatives would like to cut

I remember this one - a bit murky because it was long before he got into politics (clearly from the same point in his life where he did blackface) and the woman in question refused to go on record. And uncomfortable because he‘d forced out several Liberal MPs over harassment and assault allegations

I can believe that Carney treats female subordinates poorly but “snubbing an opponent who made negative comments about him during the leadership contest” is… not really evidence for that

Hasan is the left wing Joe Rogan - an idiot antisemite and misogynist whose core political belief is that the Democrats should lose.

It’s a bit of cliche but I think it’s because she and everyone else is on their phone all day.

Its honestly deeply sad how much people fundamentally hate all the things about UK that I really admire and love and find it an honour to be a part of

Outstanding piece by Stephen Daisley.

Ethnicity is no barrier to Britishness - it's culture and integration.

That means 'smaller cohorts and aggressive integration policies' - and tackling the institutions that 'have amplified grievance narratives and radical anti-Western ideologies'.

Here’s why this is bad news for Rachel Reeves

POV: you like Hasan Piker for whatever reason

Anne Frank, Martin Luther King and Yasser Arafat were all born in 1929.

I can wait to see how they downgrade this like with all the cool renders Metrolinx did for the GO stations that got reduced down to white boxes

Anyway my personal suspicion is that Jenrick would be worth at least a small bounce by virtue of being a white man

UK politics is in such an insane frenzy that no one seems to be aware that important things are going to happen before the next election

Also regardless of how well he might do at the next GE he’d be leader of the opposition for the next four years

I agree a lot with this and it gets to an older understanding of liberalism I've mentioned before. It is more primal and "no kings" is actually a great slogan for it. The problem is "a king can do whatever he wants to you."

It doesn't make any sense to conceive of due process as a right that individual people can have or not have at all tbh. Bad framing from the start. Due process is a restriction on the government's actions, and by definition it applies to either everyone or no one.

I partially dispute this because Peter MacKay could‘ve won the 2020 leadership election (though I think his leadership would’ve been disastrous) and Erin O’Toole nearly became PM running as a PC type (after running as something very different in the leadership race)
