I teach college courses and students don’t even buy their books. I require them to answer a short essay final exam series of questions and cite the book’s chapter and page number related to each question. That forces them to finally have to obtain and read the book.
In American high schools, many teenagers are assigned few full books to read from beginning to end — often just one or two per year, according to researchers and thousands of responses to an informal reader survey by The New York Times. trib.al/gNp7kWK

Everything Trump touches is transactional.
We now learn that Fifa had a very specific "ask" in exchange for its "Peace Award" to Trump, with loads of gold trinkets, and that was dismissal of a criminal corruption case against senior Fifa officials. And Trump granted it. Another corrupt bargain, barely noticed (and ignored by US media).

For my husband and me- our monthly premium is going from $1200 to $2300
My health insurance costs are going up 21% next year. Millions of us are facing this. And Republicans in the Senate just failed to do anything about it. #RepublicanHealthCareFailure

People keep wondering why they're going after Venezuela. It's because they want to do regime change and control its oil, then use a big tract of land there to keep a tax free "network state" that looks like Dubai but operates like Rhodesia. They are saying this out loud! Believe them!

And even if you're right, the punishment for drug smuggling isn't death.
Rand Paul: "This is an insane policy. It's inconsistent. It's not war. It's not the way we've ever done this. If we can blow up a boat in the ocean, what about when they get to Miami & put it in a truck? Can you shoot a grenade launcher at the truck? No! We arrest people b/c sometimes we're wrong."

Glad they are prioritizing the important stuff.
Mr. Rubio said switching back to Times New Roman would “restore decorum and professionalism to the department’s written work.” Calibri is “informal” when compared to serif typefaces like Times New Roman and “clashes” with the department’s official letterhead. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/09/u...

PIERS: “So you’re just a misogynistic dinosaur. Have you ever had sex?”
FUENTES: “No.”

Of. Course.

Trump is using DOJ to go after political enemies/foes for so-called "mortgage fraud" -- people like NY AG Letitia James & Sen Adam Schiff

Problem is... @propublica.org has uncovered documents suggesting Trump & several of his cabinet officials would be guilty of the same "fraud."

Raise your hand if you think MT Greene is planning on running for president. She is a nut case but also has made a bold move resigning. She didn’t do it just because of death threats (awful as they may be).

You have the right to record ICE.

You have the right to film any operation happening in public as long as you do not interfere or impede it.

Your camera is proof, but keep a safe distance. KEEP RECORDING.

Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

Cancer drug Revlimid is one of the bestselling pharmaceutical products of all time, with total sales of over $100 billion.

It’s also extraordinarily expensive, costing nearly $1,000 for each pill, even though that pill costs just 25 cents to make.

I’ve said it so many times, Republicans stay synced and on message even when the message is a lie, but this slip tells a story.
