I wish the average voter cared as much about democracy as my homeowners association cares about the shade of blue I’d like to paint my house door.
I know it’s too much to hope for, but I’d really love Schumer to lose his job over this. Better to not fight than pick a fight you’re not committed to winning.

Feckless, cowardly capitulation.
And sadly, more fuel for voter cynicism.

If Chuck Schumer takes this “deal”, despite holding both the political and moral high ground, he deserves to get primaried. Grow a damn spine dude.

I’ve flown hundreds of times, if not thousands. But I’ve never had a pilot bail on the landing 20 feet over the runway. Seriously thinking of not flying again until this shutdown is over. #SFO

You don’t get to act like a God King dictator, and then blame the party out of power for your dysfunction.

Cuddling up to authoritarian dictators while fighting to make sure American children children go hungry. A moral abomination.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that President Donald Trump agreed to support his country’s economy if it came under a speculative attack, although he didn’t offer any specifics about a deal.

Currently flying from San Francisco to Mexico City. And I must say I’m way more relaxed now that we’ve crossed into Mexican airspace.

Said by a man who just moments ago told Americans he’d ignore a court order to feed people.

You gotta a moderate nominee in a conservative district with a chance of winning? You endorse them.
You have a progressive nominee in a progressive area who’s exciting turnout? You endorse them.
This isn’t rocket science. And I don’t really care what you think the donor fallout will be.

I am a Democrat and as a Democrat, I like Democratic candidates that blow up turnout numbers, gain national attention and make low-propensity voters very excited to participate in electoral politics.
Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?
Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."

"Well, look, this is the first I'm hearing about it. As you know, I've been really busy not doing my job, so I just don't know enough about this alleged stabbing to make a comment."

Hard agree. Plus just be the party in opposition. Because swing voters know little about government but perpetually blame it for all that ills them.
This is all exhausting and futile. It’s about finding a “who” that has credible anti-establishment vibes and can reach people who don’t care about politics via short-form video. There’s no way to spreadsheet or substack our way into an answer here.

The Democratic Party doesn’t need to move left or right, it needs to get bigger, our columnist Ezra Klein writes. “That is the spirit it needs to embrace. Not moderation. Not progressivism. But, in the older political sense of the term, representation.”
