--Kristi Noem, Department of Homeland Security Secretary, is a complete moron.

--Stephen Miller, Trump's most powerful advisor and the architect of the current push for mass deportations, is a crazed Nazi with little concept of reality.

Some of the morale issues are simply logistics - e.g., being asked to accomplish more deportations in a given time frame than is humanly possible - but some are also related to the shift from targeting genuine criminals to targeting gardeners and housekeepers.

--While there is a significant proportion of ICE that consists of gung-ho, gun-toting agents who are enthusiastic about getting rid of immigrants, there is also a significant proportion that is deeply unhappy and/or depressed about what they are being asked to do.

...e.g., drug smuggling, human trafficking, and other criminal activities that involve crossing the U.S. border. America is now far less secure because of this.

--The manic focus on deporting massive numbers of undocumented immigrants has resulted in a near-complete loss of the agency's ability to target real threats to homeland security...

Red counties are mostly sucking at their teats, but they're the ones running things.

Time for secession. America is dead.

Everyone who voted for Trump, also voted for RFK Jr. to be put in charge of HHS, and thus voted for all of his rancid bullshit. America is about to fall very, very far behind the rest of the world, in a lot of ways.

...but also, if you can gain enough power, over the unwashed rabble who oppose you, no matter their ethnicity or religion.

But if you want to approach violent crime honestly, with purely constructive goals, this article is absolutely excellent.

...It's to use violent crime (or, more correctly, lies about it) to scare people into voting for more repressive control - primarily over disfavored minorites (mostly blacks, but also Hispanics, Muslims, etc.)...

Which tells you all you need to know about what Musk and the American right-wing - and thus, the GOP - always wanted out of it: an echo.
July 9, 2025 at 10:24 PM
So Musk vowed to "work on it." Rather predictably, the first results indicate that his new tweaks to the poor, defenseless Grok turned it into a full-on, genuine-article Hitler-worshiping Nazi.
July 9, 2025 at 10:24 PM
To summarize this article: the Elon Musk-owned X's Grok "AI" was giving some very inconvenient responses to queries made by right-wingers - in other words, explaining that most of their beliefs were based on pure bullshit, etc.

...anytime anyone so much as considers the possibility that something other than killing or torturing people might be a worthwhile thing for a government to do. But anymore it seems a better option than allowing these potentially powerful tools to remain in the hands of sociopathic billionaires.
July 9, 2025 at 10:24 PM
To anyone who voted for Trump: you own it all, the same way the Nazis did.

, or ignorance, or greed.

That word is "Nazi." Nobody cares about their motives anymore.
They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after.
