Sen. Alex Padilla, who was just forcibly removed from a DHS press conference, is the ranking member of Judiciary’s subcommittee on immigration, citizenship, and border safety, which has “oversight of federal agencies with citizenship, asylum, refugee, and immigration enforcement responsibilities.”

@schiff.senate.gov @padilla.senate.gov Tell me you at least secured compromises from republicans on this nightmare of a budget for your recent votes on on the crypto bill.
Trump’s Tax Scam would trade American lives for billionaire tax breaks.

New estimates show the GOP’s plan would strip Medicaid coverage from seven million people and cause more than 200,000 avoidable deaths.
House Republicans’ Medicaid Cuts and Associated Lives Lost by Congressional District
Proposals to impose work requirements on Medicaid expansion enrollees would cause large coverage losses and hundreds of avoidable deaths each year in many congressional districts.

Jeffries: There are three big issues with the bill

1. It represents the largest cut to healthcare in American history.
2. It represents the largest cut to nutritional assistance in American history.
3. All of this is being done to enact the largest tax break for billionaires in American history.

@schiff.senate.gov @padilla.senate.gov I am a constituent and your votes on this sicken me. You MUST do better than this and I know you know it.
Last night, 16 Senate Democrats voted with Republicans to advance a crypto-friendly bill that will enable Trump’s corruption.

Instead of standing up to Trump, these 16 Democrats decided they’d rather do a big favor for the crypto industry and legitimize an avenue for Trump to collect bribes.

The problem is: they've mistaken correlation for causation. They think their parents and grandparents had a good life *because* of manufacturing jobs. When, in reality, their parents and grandparents had a good life *despite* manufacturing jobs, because of unions, high taxes, and social policies.

Claim by the White House:

The Supreme Court ruling made it “very clear” that Trump was “well within his constitutional authority” to carry out deportations under the Alien Enemies Act.

An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government.

DOGE is not a real government agency.
DOGE has no authority to make spending decisions.
DOGE has no authority to shut programs down or to ignore federal law.
DOGE’s conduct cannot be allowed to stand.
