I realized it only recently but now keep seeing it
I think I finally understand a big source of the toxicity on Bluesky. Many of the people who moved here feel like they are part of a common “we” on here, and when something goes against what they associate with the in-group, they can be harsh in policing the in-group boundaries

We have vehicles made in Korea, Germany, Japan, and even in China sold in Canada without tariffs. Why should there be a tariff specifically on Chinese built EVs?

I don’t even know how they could more forcefully assert that they don’t care about human lives — but ESPECIALLY don’t care about the lives of the poor and minorities most affected by industrial pollution — than to rewrite the cost-benefit calculations to explicitly set the value of those lives to 0.

The people making the decision to stay there seem to think they have reach, in part because of those follower numbers. So I think this is an important point to keep making!
