There's going to be a healthcare vote in December. If the GOP refuses compromise, the Dems have another pressure point in January. That's not nothing.
It may not be enough though. I honestly don't know whether the Dems will get another bite of the apple.

The thing these people are really doing is permission-structuring themselves to support actual political violence against their opponents in the coming years.

Is there a movie covering Orban in Hungary, Erdogan in Turkey, Nicaragua post-Somoza , etc.? Because what we are dealing with here is a possible slide into bog-standard middle income country authoritarianism.
