Lou I’m so sorry this happened to you. Like you I’ve been there myself. All rapists and abusers should be given life and serve that time. It will never compensate their victims or give them their life’s back regardless of a sentence but at least it would stop them abusing again. Such a brave woman.

So much is skewed against victims.
We see lenient sentences because a court doesn't want to "ruin a man's life".
We see defence counsel undertaking character assassination of the victim.
We see excuses such as "he was in a bad place", "he will always regret his actions"...
