Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!

It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.

It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!

There is no astronomical reason for daylight saving time but there are good arguments against it. We hope to see a day when we revert to standard time year 'round. In the mean time, remember to set your clocks *ahead* one hour tonight and read Mark Boslough's excellent thread ⬇️
“Fall back” is standard time, which is also known as astronomical time or natural time and has been the standard since sundials were invented (therefore “standard” time). 12 o’clock was arbitrarily defined as astronomical noon, when the sun crossed the local meridian.

From a snow-covered landscape this morning, to clear blue skies this evening, today was a beautiful day! #MedinaOhio

"A growing body of research points to a link between alcohol consumption and an increased risk of seven types of cancers, stroke and premature death. ... This likely varies from person to person based on their genetic risks and other lifestyle habits."

Is one drink a day OK? Here's what to consider
On the heels of the Surgeon General's warning about the cancer risks of alcohol, there's growing consensus that less is better. But how much is enough? Here's what the experts recommend.

Gavin Newsom launched a website to combat the wildfire disinformation spreading about Los Angeles, because people can’t be bothered to do a simple Google search before sharing nonsense. And because people suck!

These extraordinary photos of the LA fires have been shared widely on social media, often without crediting the photographer.

These are all the work of Ethan Swope, an LA-based photojournalist working for AP.

Los Angeles fires…
In 1816 when Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein there was no summer cause a volcano erupted and ash clouded the sky.

I always wondered what that would look like and waking up this morning I now know..

The sky is black at 9am.

It’s terrifying, yet mesmerizing.

Stay safe LA.

The National Weather Service radar in Cleveland has been offline for many hours now, the only notice we've seen is, "until further notice". We wonder what happened! There's lake effect snow activity to track so we doubt it's routine maintenance. #ohwx
