Your favorite medievalist's favorite medievalist. Middle English literature and/in early modern books, with a side of textual editing. In progress: Dirtbag Medievalism, Chaucer's Readers: 1400-2000, Lydgate's Shorter Works
Nailed it (also, I think Nuzzi *knows* that she's the kind of writer CC aspires to be, and that this only makes matters worse)

All of which does fit the goal, which is to live as though I am in an Iris Murdoch novel, but with less adultery

Minor revisions, abstracts to write, a letter of rec for study abroad. A Christmas flight, gifts for my nephews. I need to waterproof my good boots and clean the fridge. Update guidelines for the English minor. Oil the letterpress at school. Make whiskey truffles for a party. And on and on.

The reason there are TWENTY-THREE years between the first (1911) and second (1934) volumes of MacCracken's EETS edition of Lydgate's minor poems is that he was president of Vassar in between (and also, it's an early 20th century EETS edition. But besides that.)

Oh hell yeah-- maybe more for me or her mom (of live, laugh, love in the back of my dragula sticker fame) though bsky.app/profile/mega...

Ohhhh, she will love this!
December 1, 2025 at 1:04 AM

Something kid-friendly but not "for" kids would hit the vibe exactly. I think we've got another year or two before the inevitable "really into ancient Egypt" phase, but I'm ready for that when it happens.
