what worked for you? Because I've asked my doc for those too and the ones I've tried so far just make me very tired but still awake 😭

👀 now I must know more

P.S. Have been meaning to send you a note anyway because Hot Dog Tommy's is now exorbitantly expensive and I wanted to know if you had any other shore hot dog recs 😂

I am glad I saw this post because I am now realizing how weird and gross this is. (My last years in publishing were the beginning of the "e-commerce/affiliate links will save our jobs" era and that kind of blinded me to this.)

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

Practice stillness. At some point in my 30s, the constant onslaught of stimuli and information really caught up to me, physically and emotionally. That's how I ended up in a mindfulness-based stress reduction course, which sometimes feels impossibly challenging *and* I wish I'd taken it sooner.

Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

Bari Weiss introduced herself to CBS News staff today on the network's 9AM call, saying she wants to "win," which requires restoring trust to CBS. She also said she was excited for staff to get to know the Free Press, and ended her remarks by saying: "Let's do the fucking news."

The only thing I miss about Twitter is my reach! I wish I could've taken those followers with me over to this much nicer place.

I suspect this will be about as good for morale as when the running publication I once worked for brought in an EIC who led her first staff meeting with "running sucks. everyone knows it." Crickets.

On October 3rd, I’m asking you to register to vote.

"But for all the bleating, the conspiracy theorists have continually failed to find widespread fraud. Despite court cases and mass searches, there have been vanishingly few substantiated instances of voters illegally casting ballots.

Perhaps, for Posobiec, it’s a grand exercise in projection."
marisakabas.bsky.social
SCOOP — Pennsylvania prosecutors were alerted to possible voting irregularities by one of MAGA's leading voices against voter fraud. A long paper trail shows Jack Posobiec has been living in Maryland but voting using his parents' PA address for years.

A long paper trail shows that Jack Posobiec casts a ballot in one state and lives in another.

I wore the Mule suit so you don't have to.

If you want to put a look of terror on a bunch of social media student workers' faces, ask them if they want to wear the mascot suit to make some Reels

(Readers, they do *not* want to wear the mascot suit)

NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

Version of original on left, updated on right:
Thank you for your email. There is a temporary shutdown of the U.S. government due to a lapse in appropriations. I will respond to your message as soon as possible after the temporary shutdown ends. Please visit ED.gov for the latest information on the
Department's operational status.
Thank you. Thank you for contacting me. On September 19, 2025, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5371, a clean continuing resolution. Unfortunately, Democrat Senators are blocking passage of H.R. 5371 in the Senate which has led to a lapse in appropriations. Due to the lapse in appropriations I am currently in furlough status. I will respond to emails once government functions resume.

I love weddings but as we enter our 40s, the invites are slowing down. Surely we can get invited to some random folks' weddings as a good luck charm?
meghgrace.bsky.social
I've listened to Klein's show a few times because he gets some really great guests, and if anyone has a condescension problem, it's him. I can barely stand listening to him.
michaelhobbes.bsky.social
Klein is also obsessed with solving Democrats’ “condescension problem” but it’s not condescending to talk about how your political opponents are wrong! That’s kind of how it works.
perrybaconjr.bsky.social
This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...

My husband and I recently realized that we've attended 22 weddings together (besides our own) and none of those couples are separated or divorced. We've been invited to seven more weddings we couldn't attend, and all those couples are also still together. How do we market this?!?
