I’m finding this thread of replies to be utterly delightful.
What’s a real thing from your childhood that kids these days would find completely foreign?

Like, how we used to be able to walk right up to the gate to meet our family coming off a flight.

Or how we had to pick a spot to meet at the theater BEFORE we went.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

The book I know says I was hungry and you fed me. I was sick, I was in prison and you visited me, I was a stranger and you welcomed me….

I love it when @davidfrenchjag.bsky.social joins @sykescharlie.bsky.social for his podcast. ❤️

For whatever reason, his calm assessment of our current dumpster fire of events brings me peace in the midst of the chaos. Give it a listen.

I’ll keep saying this. The only hope we have for saving democracy is everyone on the left and right waking up to the fact that the division in America is not left vs right. It’s the top vs the rest of us. The top has just convinced the right that the left is the enemy. We need to wake them up.

Lots of things about this site to like, but I think one of my favorite things is that it isn’t full of the dumb ads that pop up and open with the slightest touch as I scroll through.
