Your mind will be your greatest hurdle. Don't highlight the negative thoughts, don't ignore them either. Instead acknowledge them and work through them by finding a positive way to reframe them.

The goal is not to be an elite runner in the shortest time. The goal is to complete the marathon in a way that is healthy and sustainable for your body.

You have to MAKE time to train, it won't just happen. Schedule it like a required daily task. It doesn't have to FEEL like a chore but it must be respected as such.

Runner's high is real and it is addictive. A healthy addiction!

4) Knowing the end goal and having a solid reason that you have convinced about is important because it keeps you accountable and on track.

3) Runner's high is real. I find myself so exhilirated at the end of a run and even more excited for the next tun with every 3 miles I complete.

2) Preparation is importance but starting is even more important. All the preparation in the world won't matter if you are not actually putting the plan into action.

1) It is more of a mental battle than it is a body one. If you have a healthy body and are able to move, the biggest hurdle wil be your mentality. Even though I have run three 5k's in the span of 7 days, I still find my mind telling me I can't do it with every run.

Unfortunately, due to financial constraints it wasn't held this year. So for the next 11 months I'm going to train for the 2025 marathon with a goal to raise $10,000 that will go to the Kakamega Forest Heritage Foundation.

The Marathon aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting the Kakamega Forest. The only tropical forest in Kenya.
