I suppose I should also mention that I'm the curator of Little Norvrandt (Excalibur Campus & Goblin Campus), a pair of non-profit museums in FFXIV, dedicated to SHB.

Excalibur Campus is a one-room micro-museum, and Goblin Campus is a new multi-room facility!

Does anyone else have the issue where you go to write what's supposed to be an intimate, spicy scene in fanfic but the characters decide they're gonna intimately talk through a bunch of their trauma instead?

Like, it's cathartic for them to work through their stuff, but the timing...

💜 How do I find the friendliness, supportive vibes, and lack of shame that I see in my feed from the XIV community but for LADS? Admittedly, I'm still so new coming back into writing that I barely know how to respond to a writing challenge, let alone make one of my own.

I encountered this as a viewer on another channel's short and I couldn't find anything on my end to change the language to "The Original Effing Video" so I was just stuck with some dead robot voicing the entirety of a clip where the original voice acting was the entire point of the short.

I feel like I'm in a weird spot, because I see a lot of the FFXIV fanfiction writer posts and relate to them, but I don't really interact much or respond because the fics I'm writing are Love and Deepspace rather than XIV. But there doesn't seem to be an analogous community for LADS writers?

YES! Come What May is on my list too! There was a prompt back on twitter that was something like "what does your WoLship partner sing to find you in a crowd" and I had a whole thing of Raha singing it to find my WoL in a crowded bar 🤣 I love that song so much and delighted it resonated with you too!

Y'all I have been asking since before I joined Bluesky on either account--please go read this comic. It's a beautiful comic with some exquisitely crafted divergences from Shadowbringers canon. Rich and intentional color, an art style that just makes my brain feel good, and Vivi is a treasure.

Disclaimer--all these points are what's beneficial for *me* as I'm trying to heal. They're probably not as useful for folks who are actively writing or never stopped writing. Except the kudos and comments thing--that's for everyone. Tell people if you like the thing. Engage.

But holy biscuit, I'd be lying if I said that waking up to kudos or a comment in the morning isn't one of the best friggin' feelings ever. I never expected them, but damn. Please actively tell folks if you like the things they make/do.

I've also had to throw out the notion of whether or not my writing is "good". I will second-guess myself into the ground and come away with nothing on the page if I start thinking about trying to make it "good". Instead, "did I enjoy writing this" is where I go.

Other things I have to remind myself is the importance of writing for myself. Not that the opinions of others don't matter, or that it doesn't feel great when folks give kudos or comment, or that it doesn't hurt when they don't--but I don't tell myself to write for me, I won't write at all.
