Guns don't belong in places of peace. Being personally armed or having armed security or police doesn't increase safety.

The good guy saving the day happens so rarely, it's arguably a myth. Mass shooters usually kill themselves or get taken down by unarmed bystanders.

Everyone deserves equality under the law in all aspects of the law.

Also, guns do not equal safety, even if people feel safer when they have them.

Every so often, I see people on the left pick up a thread about how critical it is for an oppressed group to be armed.

The reality is that guns do not equal safety. They do not stop oppression. They do not save lives.

Guns kill and are rooted in an identity of god/guns/antiabortion politics. 🧵
