The NEW update does it a little differently: the body element uses flexbox to pull this off, which makes it a lot nicer because the sidebar doesn't have to be a fixed width. It also lets me do some interesting styling. Here's a pic from that new update:

Me, a four-legged aquamarine dragon, standing up like a human, revealing that, compared to a human's proportions, my arms and body are extremely long and my legs short and digitgrade. I have decent size wings, a long tail, and antennas on my head as well as a snoot.

A detailed ref sheet of me, Melvian. I'm an aquamarine four-legged ice dragon. I have massive wings, antennas on my head, blue iris, large eyes, a smaller but long snout, relatively tall legs, a soft, ratchet-like blue mane that runs down my neck all the way to my tail, and a very long tail that ends in a large, glowing blue diamond. Also a floppy round tongue, which extends a bit when blepping, but can extend longer to catch strawberries for instance. I have five fingers on my hands/forefeet, four toes on my hind feet. The ref sheet shows me in various different angles and in standing and sitting poses. It also shows my wings being posed in folded form, fully extended form for flying, and relaxed form which is in between, and the most common. I'm male (he/they), aroace, and introverted. I have interests in type design, graphic design, programming, old hardware, character design and animation. I'm generally not interested in video games (except for socializing), movies, TV shows, pop culture, mainstream social media. Physically speaking, I'm capable of flying, spewing out a solid stream of ice, and withstanding subzero temperatures. Can hang out in room temperature environments for a few hours at a time. Can overheat easily in hotter summer temperatures, upward of 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. The ref sheet also contains information about my personality. Generally shy, curious, ambitious, cares about making positive contributions to the world, loves learning new things and sharing knowledge with others.

The Bezier points that form a bold semi-old-style low-contrast serif lowercase 'a', which features a ball terminal that is round on the outside and sharp on the inside (almost like a brush stroke essentially), and a tail that's round on the outside but has a sharp corner on the inside.

computer ergonomics for feral dragons

A 3D visualization of me, a four-legged green-tealish dragon, sitting up on my hind legs and in front of a computer desk, with my forefeet/hands resting on the keyboard and a monitor directly aligned with the position of my head. The setup is similar to many of those ergonomic guides for humans; head should be positioned level and look straight towards the monitor, elbows are at a roughly 90-degree angle, posture is fairly upright and not slouched. Except that with me being a four-legged dragon, my long front legs/arms cause the desk to be much lower, and that combined with my longer neck causes the monitor to be raised much *much* higher. Also I'm sitting on the floor, rather than a chair like a human would, because chairs don't make sense for four-legged dragons (except for really small ones).

concept for a segmented number display that I'm about to throw away
A concept for a segment display, in which numbers are displayed using a finite set of shapes in fixed positions. If the concept of a 7-segment display sounds familiar to you, this is basically a take on it, except it uses 27 segments. There are inner pieces that are more round and circular for the curves in 2 3 5 6 8 9, while smaller pieces fill in the curves to be more straight for 1 4 7. The goal was to create a numerical system that could display rounder numbers entirely in a segmented display system, and ideally with as few elements as possible.

Quick little PSA from your friendly neighborhood typeface dragon! :3
An upside down serif 'N' can be identified by the lack of a serif on the top left and the presence of a serif on the bottom right. In a right side up 'N', all four corners have serifs except the bottom right. The thick diagonal has a flat part on the top and is sharper on the bottom, this difference is more evident in some fonts than others. An S may be upside down if it is top heavy. A right side up 'S' has a smaller upper half than the bottom because it would otherwise feel visually top heavy. Some fonts may omit this for aesthetic effect (or even make it geometrically top heavy) but a good font will do so if the whole font has a slightly unusual feel yet is sufficiently well designed (see Sharp Earth and GT Alpina). Letters like A V W X Y are backwards if the asymmetric contrast (the difference between thick and thin) is reversed. Strokes that ascend towards the right should be THIN and strokes that descend towards the the right should be THICK. Backwards letters reverse this. This asymmetry comes from various calligraphic models of the Latin, which readers have been used to for centuries, because the broad nib pen is tilted. Even modern serif fonts (aka Didones), which omit the tilt in letters like O, still use it for diagonal letters. Reverse contrast fonts invert these thick and thins. Such fonts are mostly intended for display and headline use because they invert the subconscious expectations of the reader (they are less familiar, essentially). Even then, the normal thick and thin placement of diagonal letters is either kept (Luma Reverse), or the weight is redistributed in a way more consistent with the rest of the typeface (Horizona) to avoid the font feeling too odd. See Karloff Negative and Maelstrom for fonts that go all in on reverse contrast and also invert the contrast of diagonal letters. Should you ever need to touch letters for whatever reason, like placing physical letters on a sign, or even just making your own letters, now you know :P
