Unexpected Steely Dan of the day

A screenshot from the movie "Say Anything". John Court, the character played by the stellar actor John Mahoney, is driving in his Volvo station wagon. He is singing along with the radio, which is playing Steely Dan's "Rikki Don't Lose That Number". According to the subtitles, he gets the lyrics wrong ("it's the only one you'll want" vs. "it's the only one you own"), which imo is a pretty common mistake due to Fagen's rather unique inflection in his vocals. You know Don never wanted to be the lead singer, which is just crazy if you imagine an alternate universe where David Palmer stayed around and sang everything. Or if Michael McDonald had accepted the gig as full time lead singer. Sheesh. My brain hurts just thinking about it. Welp, if you've read this far down, I'd just like to give a shout out to the music supervisor for this film. Bangup job.
