The second day of the year brings the wettest day at Memphis International since December 1. Still, several hours of rain produced less than half an inch (tell that to those who are soaked after attending the Liberty Bowl!). Dry weather returns tomorrow for multiple days.

4 pm- The Liberty Bowl has started in steady rain with temps in the low 50s. Light steady rain will persist over the next several hours before tapering off this evening. Temps will continue to drop into the upper 40s by the end of the game with steady wind from the north./RB

12:20pm Scattered light rain showers continue at the lunch hour. HD models indicate that steadier rain, amounting to up to 1/2", will move through from mid-afternoon through early evening... unfortunately, during the Liberty Bowl game. Temps remain in the mid 50s.

9:00am Scattered light showers are moving across the metro now, starting a trend that continues the rest of the day. Steadiest rain appears to be from early afternoon through early evening with perhaps 1/2" total for the day. Temps will be in the lower half of the 50s.

6:30am It's unfortunately going to be the 1st wet day of 2026, as light rain chances become widespread into the afternoon and evening. If there's good news for the Liberty Bowl, it won't be overly cold, though temps in the 50s will still be chilly with a light wind. Ponchos!

Tonight will see increasing clouds with lows in the mid 40s. Tomorrow, showers are likely throughout the day with highs in the mid 50s. For those planning to attend the Liberty Bowl, kicking off at 3:30, expect light rain throughout the game with temps in the low to mid 50s. /AO

The first day of 2026 was a warm and beautiful day. It was sunny today, mixed with some high clouds in the afternoon. Highs were able to reach into the mid 60s, well over 10° above average. Cooler temps arrive for the weekend, along with the some showers for tomorrow. /AO

Happy New Year! 2026 starts off mild with a good deal of sunshine, at least until high clouds increase later this afternoon. Light southwest wind will quickly warm the dry air in place, resulting in highs near 60°! Grab a coat early this morning though, as we start in the 30s.

It was a beautiful, dry day across the metro to close out 2025. Highs reached the mid 50s, right around average, with a noticeable breeze out of the west. Temps will remain chilly through the remainder of NYE. New Year's Day will feature similar conditions, with milder temps. /AO

We made it to the last day of 2025! A nice weather day greets us with sunshine aplenty and moderating temperatures. The mercury starts a bit below freezing, but will rise into the low 50s this afternoon. Chilly but not bitterly cold for NYE festivities tonight. Enjoy the day!

Today's highs were recorded shortly after midnight, as temperatures plummeted following the passage of a cold front yesterday evening. Throughout the metro, temperatures were up to 40° colder than they were yesterday. Expect similar conditions to be present tomorrow. /MM

Spring-like winter is gone and real winter is back in the wake of last night's windy front. Temps will remain in the 30s all day (high 37°) with wind gusts to 25 mph, making it feel even colder despite the sunshine. Some moderation is expected as we kickstart 2026 in a few days.

What a difference a week makes! After one of the warmest Christmas weeks on record, a cold front drops temps considerably to start the last week of 2025 before returning to near average for the start of 2026. Chilly but dry for NYE activities!
