Today, YouTube decided to break my ability to change playback speed. I am a paying premium customer.

The arrogance.

ESPN is out here playing ads for Ice. I knew they weren't good, but I didn't know they were this not good.

Four days of hiking in the Sierras with the dogs. A wonderful time. I wish the rest of my timeline could be so pure and joyful.

Is there a word for working around incompetent people in order to work with competent people?

One of our vendors, with a three letter acronym starting with A, ending with S, and a W in the middle, has some really useful people if you can just talk to them.

Shout out to the "security" researcher (scammer) who emailed everyone they could find at my company, insisting we needed to change a DNS record from the current value to... exactly the same value.

Today in Nature Is Amazing: at low tide this beach might have 20-30 ft of sand. At high tide it is vast and pure joy for dogs. And for us.

Hey @tef.bsky.social, I have a role that might interest you. I lead engineering at a small, product-focused startup (lettuce.co). We help businesses-of-one run their business, especially the tax/accounting part. We're backend heavy, remote-only, and amenable to fractional work.

Happy to share more.

For Harvey (older dog)'s birthday, we had a lovely walk and swim at Spring Ranch. They were captivated by the seals.

Caught low tide at Jug Handle beach. Had it to ourselves, twice the size as usual.

The dogs frolicked.

An alumni mailing list (ultimate frisbee if you are curious) has started discussing what the university should do in response to the current fascist regime.

One person: stick to sports
Everyone else: nuanced discussion

Are spam security reports a thing?

Received a claimed SPF vulnerability. Contained a fake DNS record. The report conveniently did not say record was at fault.

Are there companies rich enough to pay a bounty but too poor to spend time verifying?
