Enjoying long dogs on the beach in Mendocino.
Keep at it. Improvement comes quickly with a little repetition.

One of the two has what it takes to face the opposition.

One time we played yale cup (frisbee version) and had snow one day and sun burns the next. I don't miss the east coast.

This is why I try like hell to avoid these kind of features. It's too easy to do it badly and too hard to do it well.

True in general, unless you are paid for your time and want to make that bargain.

Don't enjoy a show? Don't watch it.
Aren't feeling a book? Move on.

Life's too short.

Same in software. I am very good at writing code. I mostly don't need help. I could see learning to use AI to help accomplish things I already know... if I was much earlier in my career. But I'm convinced that I'd lose a lot of understanding in the process.

Zuck, Larry, and Benioff all together. Feels unbalanced.

It horrible. Spent a lot of time there as well.

Thank you. I've been struggling to express what you said re: teamwork. I know $COWORKER can get an LLM to write a proposal, I can't do anything with useful with the writing if there was no real thinking behind it.

Right, I can't imagine being the kind of person who'd apply for a job there.

We have a local, community pharmacy. We're also rural so it's not as convenient as the various delivery services. But I put up with so that there are real people without a corporate overlord to talk to.

Someone's metric is more important than having a good product.
December 2, 2025 at 2:30 AM
After almost a year of talk, our product finally has an AI feature that I think actually provides value. It's so much simpler than the kinds of things I read about people building. Our users are not ready for (or is it interested in?) anything more complex.

I know turkeys can fly because our dogs keep chasing them when they come into our yard.
November 27, 2025 at 2:28 AM
The product I help build has an AI strategy because these days it has to. And what we've come up with is fairly reasonable. But when I compare it to the wider world of LLM exuberance, I simply don't understand who the user is.

If $HORRIBLE_THING isn't disqualifying for you personally, you are also horrible.

It's likely they don't implement SMS themselves. It's a pain and everything is SAAS now. Most companies use Twilio, which means when delivery starts to fail, even Dropbox (or whoever, I've been there) have zero visibility into the delays.

I found it very helpful learning to recognize anxiety about the future vs the past. The former, I could usually write a plan and put it out of my head. Whereas rumination I still struggle with.

Pre-ordered, as always. Thanks for the reminder.
November 9, 2025 at 3:40 AM
Yup. We had it on VHS growing up, along with another short called Mountain Music

My mom used to be married to him. They got an Oscar for an animated short.

We watch the dogs of the week every Friday like clockwork. This episode sure hit different.
