Holy shit 😰 And not only does it show their complete and utter disdain for women (with the act itself having sexually violent undertones IMO) but their disdain for the teaching profession. This seeks to further the right-wing worldview that teachers are "pushing" their beliefs onto children.

Reading the review, it felt like the director was trying HARD for a "Birth of a Nation" styled propaganda film against queer & disabled people.

And knowing the subtext, the ending stood out to me as the most chilling. These monsters LOVE fantasizing about these scenarios to justify brutalising us.

In the end, thanks to the joint efforts of the persecuted teacher, the angry father, and the abused child, the witch is torn to pieces by her victims and parents are reunited with their children. Order is restored through cathartic violence wrought upon the body of the invader. (The only scene in the movie more graphic than this is the Irréversible-inspired head-bashing of the gay guy. Both scenes are played for comedy. I wonder what this could mean.) Annihilating the threat doesn't cleanse the children of Gladys’ contamination, of course, because the biggest fear of all is that once an outsider has touched your child, he or she will never be your child again. In the final shot, we track in on Matthew's hollowed out eyes, slung over his protective father's shoulder.

The meaning might as well be framed in scare quotes:

IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE!
