My friend died yesterday. Our last convo before he was in the hospital was trying to meet up at the 311 concert in KC. It never happened and I’ll always regret not trying harder to make it work. He was a really good dude, and I’m not someone who says those things if they aren’t true.

My friend who is my age and has kids my kids’ age is lying in a hospital dying tonight. We met when we were 17. His liver began to fail when he was in his early 20’s. Nothing about this has been fair or easy… but organ donation gave him around 2 decades of life. It was a precious gift. 💜

I just drank a lil baking soda because my stomach hurt, which immediately made me need to burp, but I couldn’t get it out. It was way more painful than I ever would have guessed. My husband had to burp me like a baby. A big, gassy, middle aged baby.

My son just looked at me very thoughtfully and said, “I wonder what the descendants of our ancestors were like?”

I’m going back to school again. Honestly, I’d be really happy if I could make a living accruing degrees in the learning of “very interesting things to think about so I can feel smart when I talk about them” instead of any practically useful skill sets.
