I love me a good Shambling Mound, and this mini is a great figure for one. Really love the combination of wood, vines, leaves, moss, stone, and mushroom on this guy. I'm also fairly pleased with the somewhat stagnant looking water for the base.

Following up from last week's Mind Flayer theme with one if their most dangerous variants. An Alhoon is the name given to a Mind Flayer Lich, and these Undead Aberrations are especially deadly!

I don't know what it is about this one, but I really feel like this one is the most regal looking of the minis. They've got an air of power about them.

A couple more Mind Flayers, this time with newer models! I feel like I really picked up some good techniques by the time I got to these ones, and they look much better than the original two I did.

This Mind Flayer figure makes a bit more sense to me. The staff with a head that looks like wriggling tentacles is a nice touch. I'm also very happy with how the color of their skin turned out.

My first try at painting Mind Flayers were these older designs. The choice of a claw weapon seems like a strange choice for these foes, and their hands seem weirdly large, but it all kind of works out okay.

The second batch of Intellect Devourer minis are a bit larger and more detailed. Still nothing to fancy, but I'm happy with how they came out.

My first two Intellect Devourers are slightly smaller, but thankfully there isn't much detailing needed on these ones.

A bit of a collection here with some Intellect Devourers! These little brain-like creatures serve as guards and trackers for Mind Flayer communities. I've got quite a little army of them now!

Wrapping up November with my biggest animal, a Tyrannosaurus Rex! For the coloration, I was inspired by the old Jurassic Park toys. Instead of the movie's brown colors, they were more of a dark red. Love to use this mini in my game!

Rounding out November with some bigger animals. The Giant Ape is clearly based on King Kong, and gorillas by extension. I think this one came out great! Nothing to fancy, but I feel like I executed it well.

An early mini painting I did was this metal Elk figure. It generally came out pretty well, but I can see the ways I'd do things differently now. A great look back, though!

I was happy with how my smaller octopuses came out, but I really love my Giant Octopus. Larger, stronger, and a better combatant, they make great aids in underwater fights. I really love the way that red-orange color pops!

While I think these colors are fine, and maybe even typical, for an octopus mini, I think I'd like to try some more vibrant colors next time.

Following up the squid from a couple days ago with some octopuses! These clever animals excel at hiding, infiltrating and problem solving, making them useful in a tight underwater scenario. I went with some more basic colors on these two.

I'm not sure that smaller squids like the mini is depicting come in this color, but I think it looks good regardless of accuracy.

Keeping up the oceanic theme with a couple squid! They aren't much threat to larger creatures, but they can move fast and blind foes with jets of ink! For the coloration, I took inspiration from the giant squid (despite the size) and the market squid.

Sharks are swift and powerful predators with keen senses. This makes them excellent aids in aquatic battle, or dangerous opponents.

Continuing the oceanic theme with a shark! This one in particular is patterned after a great white shark, easily one of the most recognizable of their kind. Another early success in painting water effects!

Dolphins may not be the most dangerous ocean creature, but they can slam into larger creatures to keep them at bay. These were also some of my first successes with finding a way to paint translucent water.

Switching over to some aquatic creatures with some dolphins! These intelligent mammals can swim quickly and hold their breath from long stretches, making them ideal aids to druids who need to scout watery environments.

Mules are harder and longer lived than horses and seemingly less stubborn and slow than donkeys This makes them ideal pack animals, able to reliably transport heavy loads for travelers, merchants, and soldiers. I really like these models, they were fun!

Finally, we have the very first horse I painted. For as old as this mini painting was, I'm still pretty happy with how it came out.

Single color horses feel harder to paint, if only because I want to make them interesting. Still, I think this black horse came out pretty well.

More horses, now with saddles and riding gear! Before they added horses to Hero Forge, these were my options for the party's mounts.
