I wouldn't argue with that, but it supposes that the main issue with software development is the speed of production of code, and it is certainly not.

Nothing I have seen has convinced me that no silver bullet is not still valid. We are still not reducing any of the essential complexity.

But also, with our increasing dependency on software and all our software & advertising trending toward highly saturated, attention grabbing colours, (easy to see with UI/UX design trends) we are probably screaming for some relief somewhere (well, I am)

Quite possibly.

There are cultural differences in preferences for dashboard colours -- you can pick it from the global dataviz challenges.

That's when we get into function vs aesthetic.
The purpose of dataviz is to communicate.
Imagine a legal document, entirely words in back and white. Now imagine that legal document where every word is a different colour.
Which is easier to read?
