Go Jenny (Dr Jennifer Ashworth)! Fantastic presentation of her group’s work - multi-component characterisation of patient tissue and how to recapitulate this in in vitro models. Excellent work!

Makes me think about our @ukbiofilms.bsky.social group TBH (love you guys, but a bit terrified too)

Just so wrong…. Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got ‘till it’s gone (etc.)

So… where are me and my coffee off to today? Looking forward to a busy day with @nc3rs.bsky.social and BBSRC talking about business innovation vouchers and how to support engagement between academia and industry to help the transition to animal-free in vitro models.

It was a great day! @nabalabuic.bsky.social @douglaspdyer.bsky.social @wellcometrust.bsky.social A great chance for a discussion about how we bring together all our specialities to build a useful matrix atlas - and what that should look like. Matrix assemble!

In 2024 we awarded almost £21k to 13 public engagement projects, reaching 3,000+ people across 17 events. Genevieve Barr explores the projects, from inspiring the next generation of scientists to creating resources for the community to use in their own 3Rs activities: nc3rs.org.uk/news/public-...

I’m hoping the PG community can do this too… I’m worried the GRC are too ’mainstream’ (?) to respond to the issue?

Real shame - particularly as the Italy meeting was a festival of giant leaps forward in understanding as international groups could share ideas x

I spoke with my US colleagues before cancelling. My reasons were exactly the same as yours and are unlikely to change until the government does. We can and will relocate our meetings to keep our colleagues safe and to protest! Diversity of view, background and experience is what feeds good science.
