Call it a hot take if you want, but at this point i believe every American should have to sit for a basic civics exam before registering to vote. Voting is too important a process to allow the uninformed to take part. Each passing day etches this conviction stronger upon my being.

I feel like James Spader could have slid right into the role of Frank Underwood in Spacey's stead. That would have, in my opinion, been better than killing him off screen.

It's actually crazy how cooked the USA is right now. We have one chance in a year to maybe try and claw some of this back, but i get the feeling fair elections are about to be a thing of the past

Sometimes, the uncomfortable truth and reality of a situation is that there aren't two sides to the story. And even in the many cases that there are two sides, sometimes one side is so disproportionately culpable that pretending both sides have equal weight is often damaging if not outright evil

People talk about how it'll take America decades to recover from the current administration's many blunders. But we're much larger than, say Germany, and we haven't even fully moved past the Civil War yet. I don't know if "recovery" preserves the country. I don't know if it can.

I think the most sobering, harrowing, and necessary realization when it comes to fascism is the reality that it happens because the majority of people are fine with it. People really do not care, for whatever reason. And we can't properly resist its influence until we reconcile this dilemma

The way MAGA has spun the concept of judicial checks and balances into the derogatory "activist judge" term really needs to be studied. Should also probably look into how these "small government" crusaders want the biggest possible government they can imagine

I know people say the US will never switch to metric because it's too difficult. But if you take a look at consumer products, it's already happening. Like, does anybody in the US really not know what a 2L looks like?? Also, also: the inch is literally defined as 25.4 mm/2.54 cm!! It's SO dumb
