Just bought this on a whim. Not sure when I'll get to it, but looks pretty good! Meanwhile Mount TBR totters precariously as the urge to write pushes reading time aside. Shades of Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof: "On one hand..." hands go back and forth until: "There is no other hand!"

Glad you enjoyed the book. So did I. Did NOT enjoy having a pitch to join your newsletter slapped in my face while reading your comments, and will forebear experiencing it again. Smh at rude websites that discourage return visits.

Trad doesn't want/thinks it can't sell 99.9% of what indie writing offers. No matter how good it is.

If your question was about the Clines novel, both it and 14 were pretty good reads.

I'm working through them since The Lions of Al-Rassan hooked me earlier this year. I think I've only got about 4 left after I finish Ysabel next week. I could make an entire top 10 for my reading year from these books!

Along with a host of novels and other stories, Varley wrote one of my favorite short stories, Bagatelle. DEMON, the conclusion to his Gaia trilogy, is a masterpiece, and I don't remember a single novel of his that I didn't enjoy. Will miss his voice greatly. Thanks for the memories, and RIP.

"We have inside jokes". Sure, and you've locked yourself out of tons of potential sales you can laugh about together.

Maybe get together with others to talk about books you've read? Might stir up interest in either a new candidate or a re-read that is likely to keep your interest.

Still languishing on my Kindle but I can recommend her novels Hild and Menewood, excellent and impeccably researched historical fiction featuring Saint Hilda of Whitby, one of England's best known but least documented figures.

This is one effing fine piece of work.

THE VENETIAN HERETIC was a wonderful pleasant surprise from an amazingly versatile author. From a comic trilogy set in Neal Stephenson's Foreworld to stunning space operas, he excels at all. And I've barely touched his oeuvre with a couple handfuls of stories.

Happy Book Birthday, then! Hope to read this before long, word of mouth from arc readers seems strong.

This served as a reminder to grab the latest one, thx! The sense of familiarity dipping into these little tales (or nearly any LMB story) is amazing. Then again, so are the stories.

One of my top 10 series, and I've re-read all or parts of Demon until I know it like the back of my hand. Never once occurred to me to wonder about the origins of the Titans, though. Might be interesting.

Pretty much read it over a 48 hour period. It dragged me away from another read where I only had an hour left, which I will now finish today. I'm uncertain why they aren't more upfront that it's a series. But I'm also stumped why they put the ebook on sale for a buck USD so soon after release.

It is a series. Next title revealed at the end of Heretic.

Better than I could do. But I had the same thought - all of that on one cover? Hmmm...
