This is my favorite Val Kilmer movie also. He was great as a burnt out prodigy. The popcorn scene is perfect.
Remembering Val Kilmer in Real Genius (1985). Somehow laser science got an astonishingly accurate pop culture movie. It didn’t have to accurately depict building and troubleshooting excimer lasers and yet somehow it did.
