Did we not learn this from Brexit? "we just want less red tape" and now we can barely trade with Europe because we don't meet their standards, and also everyone's job is both worse and worse paid than it was ten years ago

As noted elsewhere in the replies, yes.

For sure. Nobody is disputing that. The point is that the natural world can't handle a half dozen or dozen loaded oil tankers going down. The fuel oil in them is bad enough, but the amount of oil one of those things carries when loaded is bad enough burnt, it's catastrophic if it ends up in the sea.

If governments were telling Ukraine the ships were empty then those governments could have actually enforced international embargoes and sanctions and avoided Ukraine having to take this into their own hands in the first place.

The point of Ukraine fighting Russia is they do not want to be Russia. Implicit in that is (or should be) not wanting to be as shitty to communities around the world as Russia. As Mark said, they have apparently been empty ships, so that is much better news than it could otherwise have been.

Good news.

Have to hope it was empty, because as much as I'm for Ukraine taking the enforcement action the rest of the world refuses to take, not at the expense of just creating a string of ecological disasters all over the planet.

It's so rich Clarkson picking on appearance when he himself has a face like a 70 year old leather gearshift gaiter.

Also agree on this point, but there are also ways to call that out that don't involve calling people who've consistently paid some of the highest matchday/season ticket ££s in the league for 10/20/30+ years of mediocrity for all too few moments of magic they'll take to their graves "not real fans".

Like, you can't honestly tell me this is anything more than throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks at this point.

There's adaptable, and there's playing literally nobody on the left wing.

Thomas Frank turned up five minutes ago and already started lecturing them for "not being real fans".

Absolutely catastrophic PR.

These are people who've stumped up some of the most expensive matchday and season ticket prices in the league for the opportunity to watch 10, 20, 30, 40 years of, in the main, total drivel, interspersed with oh-so-few moments of absolute magic that they'll remember until their dying days.

Indeed. Everybody is breathlessly covering the fact that Kemi Badenoch has called on the Chancellor to resign, as if that makes it a fait accompli that she should resign! Of course the LOTO is going to call for the Chancellor to resign because destabilising the govt is basically their whole job!
