This is Chop. He was shot and killed by masked assailants in plain clothes who go by ICE. They showed up at his door "looking for migrants after receiving a tip." The son of the family asked if they could wait before entering the home while he put Chop away in the bathroom, as the dog can be aggressive with strangers.
According to the family, it is at this point that the son went to his pickup truck to retrieve his ID and a Border Patrol agent entered the home, opened the bathroom door, and shot Chop. None of the agents helped the family, who desperately tried to render aid to Chop, as he bled to death on the kitchen floor. Unsurprisingly, the agent who shot their dog then hid from them and refused to give his name. Even more unsurprising, they did not find any evidence of the migrants they were there to terrorize in the first place.
Do not open your door for these fucking losers. Rest easy Chop

Obviously for Milei, the steaks are a lot higher, with the $20bn American bailout that he needs desperately. But it is crystal clear how much contempt Trump holds other world leaders in, and I don't understand why so many put themselves through this ritual humiliation.

Never ceases to amaze me why so many of these world leaders drag themselves all the way over to sit in front of Trump, like Javier Milei did today. Trump listens to Milei speaking, then says "I'm sure what you said was very profound. I'm not sure if we - does anyone want to get that translated?"

Changes to the English language requirement were first reported in May when the government published their early plans in the immigration white paper. The new standard requires people to express themselves “fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expression” and to be able to communicate flexibly in social, academic and work situations.

It's really funny that they're upset about this photo which is just unusual, which is probably 9/10ths of why it was chosen. Also, that they're so keen to flatter Trump again certainly does seem to indicate a nervousness in the Kremlin that Trump might be frustrated with Putin & leaning to Ukraine.

GDS has, I think, been more successful recently in this regard, but it has been working its way across government in small steps.

Sure. We've been no different in that domain on the large-scale projects. E.g. the NHS NPfIT was many things, but an example of off-the-shelf procurement it was absolutely not, and the endless customisations were a big part of the reason for the delays and cost over runs. Twas ever thus.
