Heading to the Bronx. Betting hard on the idea that they won’t throw punches at a middle aged professor.

I don’t know of specific work, but sounds like something Tim Sweeney or Jason Haberman would do.

My favorite subway graffiti right now is anti-friend hot takes.
Graffiti on ad reads "and is a living being — not AI!" Graffiti reads "AI fuels isolation — reach into the real world!!"

Sure. Here's Spring 2025. The first column is the project name, subsequent columns are goals for each month, color-coded by task type (data collection, analysis, dissemination, etc.)

For yourself or the whole lab? For the former, whatever you will actually update. For the latter, I find a shared Google docs spreadsheet works.

Happy new year to all my peace-loving, freedom-fighting, justice-seeking Jews. May 5786 bring peace to the people of Palestine, freedom to the prisoners of the empire, and justice to the workers of the world.

I’ve snatched victory from the jaws of defeat! Who is my foe? Why, the dumbass I was last week, of course.

Guys? I had a coldbrew at 3:00 this afternoon and think I might be able to sleep sometime next week. We’ll see if I can stop shaking so I can at least use the buzz to finish some reviews

incredible Ada Lovelace quote highlighted in a talk by Steve Furber. She spells out the dream of computational neuroscience, 2 centuries ago. The sheer ambition 🤩
Steve Furber powerpoint slide showing picture of Ada Lovelace and a quote: "I have my hopes, and very distinct ones too, of one day getting cerebral phenomena such that I can put them into mathematical equations--in short, a law or laws for the mutual actions of the molecules of brain. .... I hope to bequeath to the generations a calculus of the nervous system."

A great piece on female servitude in science fiction is mostly a story of male dissatisfaction/worship and female rebellion. Certain men never seem to appreciate that ‘the perfect woman’ is likely to despise them - if they notice them at all.

Fictional female robots have a long history, and it's often quite dark
Sierra Greer's novel about a female robot, Annie Bot, just won a prestigious sci-fi prize, the Arthur C Clarke award. But she is hardly the first of her kind, says Sophie Bushwick

if you're not from or have never been to new york i cannot stress enough how normal the subway is 99% of the time. kids take it to school. everyone is basically chill. you learn to be in proximity with harmless weirdos or minor irritations pretty quick. for all its issues it's an incredible thing

Curious: Would you consider empirical work, or just theoretical?
