I never reserve (and pay for it). As you are likely to miss your connection anyway. There will be seats usually. Just ask politely and people will have to move their bags (they do want the two seats for themselves). Save the money.

I must admit (being in Europe) I do watch where my product is coming from. Not fully yet, but it is coming. And once a brand is destroyed, it is gone forever. The loss to the US will be significant.
