@deutsche-bahn.bsky.social German Rail is totally broken. Trains run by chance. Tonight 50 mins from Lindau to Munich. No excuses. Just plain broken for good. And everybody will be claiming money back.

The fact that Coca Cola needs to advertise „Made in Germany“ clearly shows how they are struggling and that Sales is down. And let us be clear: they pay very little Income Tax in Germany as profits gets sucked out through Licensing Agreements. Time to stop drinking anything Coca Cola.

In my town of 1,605 people growing up, our 300-kid high school almost always had 3-5 German foreign exchange students. They were great field goal kickers for our football teams. And always very smart and kind.
Going abroad for 11th grade is quite common among German high-schoolers. Destination No.1: the US.

Anecdotal evidence: in my niece’s cohort at her Munich school, nobody is going to the US this year.

The auto tariffs imposed by the US administration will be SO complex to administer that it will completely void its purpose at this level (unless tariffs become horrendous, which is then prohibitive and will reduce business to zero for imports).

A shocking and fascinating insight into the Trump foreign and security apparatus.

From a European perspective, note how Vance, Hesgeth and Miller not only gush over 'pathetic' European free-loading, but also fantasize about what the extract in return for bombing the Huthis:

I am glad that I cancelled my subscription to the @washingtonpost.com a while back and it will not be renewed. The headlines that I am reading today are purely insane and do not belong to a newspaper that cherishes the principles of a free press. My money will be going elsewhere.

So now the US is asking Europe (and notably Denmark) for more egg deliveries. Good luck with that. Eggs are perishable goods, so to have the delivered via air freight. Good luck with those costs.

#Ukraine: Completely unclear to me as to why they would be meeting in Saudi Arabia, if Russia is not even there. What is the point? They have no clue if Russia will be accepting this at all (they were not there) - most likely not. So other than good marketing, this is absolutely nothing. tbc.

It will be interesting that soon US government agencies will pay for costly ads in Canadian and European newspapers promoting American products (only to realise that we do not want them anymore and we do not want them for decades). Once a brand has lost its touch, it will not come back.

America: just be clear, once trust has been broken with Europe it will take decades to rebuild it. Do not come back to us in a few years crying for help. We will not help then.

America: stop lecturing us on free speech. You do not have it any longer. You are subjecting non- wanted press to severe harassment. Do not tell me how free speech works.

If Germany can have solid and approved election results in 6 hours (with solely paper ballots) - non-disputed (including voting by mail) -,why can the US not do the same. It is still 60 mil voters and a complex voting system (not just Rep or Dem)? I just do not get it.
