If you think back, that kind of thinking - it never once led to a good place. So why go back to it now? Why not constructively work together? The only answer I can come up with is "pent-up anger," and that's almost never a good basis for tactics, much less a real strategy.

It's been jarring to see so many people on all sides retreat back into this WWII-era thinking about the populations of other countries. We have access to each other now, we have the opportunity to know *better* than the facelessness - yet we seem to be willfully forgetting that.
