If you like Guillermo del Toro's work, this is your movie. If you’re indifferent to Guillermo del Toro, the final hour of Frankenstein isn’t as riveting.

It’s well written with impressive visuals, and the acting is good but it’s not a great film. Merely a decent one.

Predator: Badlands is the second-best Predator movie. I know it’s a low bar. This reboot succeeds because it offers surprises and has a lot of heart. Strong performance by Elle Fanning.

A postpartum depression drama, Die My Love is OK. Jennifer Lawrence is good. Found the narrative hard to follow at times. Am sure the book is better since portraying psychosis in a novel would be easier.

Anniversary has a lot to say about the state of America today. However, the longer the story goes, the more over the top and less impactful it gets.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You was one of the most stressful movie-watching experiences of my life. Not a bad film, but I did not care for it.

Wasn’t necessarily crazy about the original, but Black Phone 2 is decent entertainment.

Blue Moon is the latest Ethan Hawke and Richard Linklater collaboration. It’s Hawke’s finest acting performance. He carries the entire film and is in almost every scene.

A House of Dynamite is one of the most annoying films of the year. It also feels incomplete. When it was over, I was like 'Wait, that's it?'

The only thing I liked about this movie was Tracy Letts, who always delivers.

Bugonia is weird and interesting. Is it a great film? No, but Emma Stone is fantastic (as always).

Mixed feelings on Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. On one hand, it’s well acted and avoids the cliches of most music biopics.

On the other hand, it’s moody, super serious and lacks any sense of joy. Guess these were intentional decisions.

Got the full Venice Marathon experience with the final 2km through a partially flooded course.

3 Hours, 48 minutes, 9 seconds, third-fastest marathon.

The two best performances by a male actor I’ve seen this year:

Sean Penn in One Battle After Another

Dylan O'Brien in Twinless

This scene from One Battle After Another might be the best thing Paul Thomas Anderson has ever done—and that says a lot.
