Having a good time with OPERATION BOUNCE HOUSE, from the nut job (I say this affectionately, of course) that brought Dungeon Crawler Carl into the world. Guess I’m gonna have to get the audiobook for this too, to hear the greatness Jeff Hays and @travisbaldree.bsky.social are sure to bring. #booksky

Revisiting this art from @danielwarrenart.bsky.social because I'm in a mood and absolutely need my comic books to bring more of this energy to their pages in 2026.

I keep getting emails from Cemetery Dance to join their Collector's Club while I'm still waiting to receive the "exclusive" DISSONANT HARMONIES hardcover for joining back in 2020, was released in paperback in 2021, and has been apparently at the printer since *at least* May (but probably longer).

Memories are the most dangerous drug.

Read CONVERGENCE, the 2013 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and 2021 Self-Published Science Fiction Competition finalist that Publisher's Weekly called a "smart splice of espionage and science fiction" now at www.michaelpatrickhicks.com/convergence #SciFiSunday

Not sure how they pulled this from my favorites for the year. SINNERS is definitely #1, hands down, but I would have put THE LONG WALK before FRANKENSTEIN. I enjoyed F1 a surprising amount, but it’s not a Top 3 for me.

INCEPTION and BUGONIA were pretty good ways to start and end the year, respectively.

Gotta say, I did not foresee Ralph Ineson being my most-watched actor of 2025.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! Time to post your #LastFourWatched 🚗

No cheating. Reskeet with the most recent picture of your pet.

First movie of 2026. (Yes, technically a cheat, I suppose, but it’s on Letterboxd so I’m counting it, damnit!)

First book/current read of 2026.

Gonna try and knock out ASSORTED CRISIS EVENTS Vol. 1 before the year ends. Certainly feels timely and relevant. To wit:

“Next day or next week (it’s impossible to say which), I wake up to a fascist nightmare. But I still gotta go to work.”

Fuck. Been there, doing that now.

Fucking love this panel. Perfect synchronicity between Nick Dragotta’s art, Frank Martin’s colors, and Rus Wooton’s lettering. BLAM! indeed!

Family board game time means we have been playing this single round of Monopoly *allll* fucking day. But now we have a guard to make sure there’s no jailbreaks.

Christmas Eve morning means opening up one gift from each of us before the big reveals tomorrow. Got a hat from my 10-year-old. I must be doing something right!

Got my walk in. Then it was their turn, apparently.

I maybe might have gone a wee bit overboard with picking up some @imagecomics.com compendiums.

Huh. That's a new one from Goodreads. Advance readers, be sure to copy your review before clicking through screen prompt #1 as GR doesn't save whatever you're written before taking you to screen prompt #2 to submit the rating. It's a low-key pain in the ass!

Ooh, ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER is on HBO Max. Let’s do this!

It's the ALIEN: ROMULUS 4K UHD steelbook I wanted the first release to be! Very glad to see they're finally releasing an edition with @mattferguson.bsky.social's artwork. Sure would be nice if they did some embossing on it, too. 🤞😁

Also, in regards to a previous accusation that AWA included AI art -- without the writer's permission! -- in the backmatter of a book, Javier writes the following:
December 18, 2025 at 7:27 PM
There's clearly -- I think -- more going on here than just, as Javier writes, a lack of consensus on what is reality and just pointing the finger at AI. This lack of consensus also requires to properly interrogate these claims to determine what is real art and what is AI slop.
