Isn't that what people are already doing? If the US is going to cut off foreign trade with tariffs doesn't that also reduce foreign investment by the same amount? If they can't sell products to the US where are they supposed to get the dollars to buy the treasuries?

He can only implement so many tariffs before he has a complete embargo on his own country.

I would actually love an infinity year mortgage, I just pay the interest forever and not have to bother trying to figure out cost of equity vs cost of debt

I'm not sure that's true. They are loyal to him because it's been good for their careers. Most of the time when leaders lose the support of the public, the knives come out. This is especially true when that leader is old.

I had no inclination to own precious metals till the spring but now I do. Seems like kind of a waste since all it does is sit in a vault, but owning a bit doesn't seem like it's not the worst idea.
