We're in Korea, on Jeju Island, and my wife saw some actual haenyeo divers about to go out fishing, and they allowed her to film them as they entered the water.

Success in the arts/entertainment industries is very driven by luck and chance, so connections and inside knowledge are kind of cheat codes that wouldn't be needed in the cobblerverse.
